Intranet for the Associated Service Management public entities

Plone’s qualities make it perfectly fit for collaborative Intranet and portals: knowing this potential, RedTurtle Technology proposes to all the association born for the associated management of services (like Intercommunal Associations, Mountain Communities etc.) to create or restructure their Intranet using Plone.

For years, Italian law has encouraged the associated management of services among neighboring Municipalities, aimed at cost reductions and at efficiency improvements. For RedTurtle’s region, Emilia Romagna, the “Associated Managements” portal (http://www.regione.emilia-romagna.it/gestioni_associate/) is the showcase of those experiences. From an ICT point of view, integration is one of the most frequent requirements – personnel from different administrations,  each one operating its own ICT platform, must converge on a shared solution.

RedTurtle’s proposal is based on the integration of Plone and:

  • every Plone product that may interest the Association among the over 600 available
  • the available authentication / identification services in use by the associated organizations (Active Directory, LDAP and others)
  • services for the management of internal forms for the collection of information from the periphery to the Association center
  • the same kind of services directed to the citizens, when the jointly-managed services give the Association this responsibility
  • thematic areas (for example those for managing the Council of Majors)
  • existing e-mail services; as an alternative, a new e-mail infrastructure can be provided
  • existing web or legacy applications
  • services aimed at the collection of geo-referenced information, with Google Maps integration
  • transparent access to the Association’s existing databases, or to those of associated organizations

and this all can turn into a public portal solution with reserved areas.

The entry of Plone into an associated management entity, will let each associated member have a contact with Plone, and this can be the prelude of a standardization of the CMS platform also at portal level, with obvious economic scale benefits.
